Jackie Blurton Wins Tom Holt’s “Box Canyon Summer”
During the Earth Day Chautauqua on April 22, “Rachel Carson” picked the winning raffle ticket for Tom Holt’s “Box Canyon Summer.” Jackie Blurton was the lucky winner of this gorgeous painting.
The raffle raised $2720 which will be divided equally between GCC and SWNM Audubon Society to help our efforts to protect the Gila River.
Thank you to the more than 100 people who bought raffle tickets and made this fundraiser a success.
A huge thank you to Tom Holt who generously donated his painting to the raffle to help fund efforts to defend the Gila River he so dearly loves.
According to Holt, “For the past thirty years I have focused my work and life along the banks of the Gila River in southwest New Mexico. In a desert land the river canyons are the source of all life. These areas must be protected and people made aware of their unique value. I hope my paintings reflect the beauty and sacredness of these wild, unspoiled places. It is absolutely vital that we preserve them.”
