Silver City artist Tom Holt generously donated his painting “Box Canyon Summer” to GCC and Southwest New Mexico Audubon Society to help fund efforts to defend the Gila River he so dearly loves.
According to Holt, “For the past thirty years I have focused my work and life long the banks of the Gila River in southwest New Mexico. In a desert land the river canyons are the source of all life. These areas must be protected and people made aware of their unique value. I hope my paintings reflect the beauty and sacredness of these wild, unspoiled places. It is absolutely vital that we preserve them.”

Raffle tickets for Holt’s painting are $20 each, with the drawing to be held at the April 23 Earth Day celebration. All proceeds from the film fest and raffle sales benefit work to protect the Gila River.
